2024 Miss Cameron Parish
Mckala Snyder

Makala Marie Snyder, the 18-year-old daughter of James and Bridgit Snyder, attends McNeese State University, majoring in business administration with a concentration in accounting and lists the skinning contest as her favorite fur festival event, because the skinning event is a true testament of Cameron Parish and family traditions. Just being present and witnessing the fun and competitive spirit from the participants with skills that were handed down from generation to generation, shows a true love and passion for who we are as a parish.

When not working or going to school, Makala enjoys reading and journaling whenever she can, ATV riding with her dad and brother, and spending as much time with her godchild, little cousins, and her family. Makala’s awards and honors include being a Summa Cum Laude graduate from Johnson Bayou High School and the top graduate of her class, recipient of the Cameron Parish District Attorney’s Leadership Award, Cameron Lions Club Scholarship Award, Cameron LNG Scholarship Award, Cheniere Foundation Higher Education Scholarship, and the Riley Richard Scholarship Award. A recipient of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association All-State Awards for basketball, cross country, and track. Makala also earned 24 college credits while in high school, being able to begin college as a sophomore.

Makala’s future plans include earning her bachelor’s degree in business and accounting from McNeese State University. Upon graduation from McNeese, she plans to attend graduate school and later acquire her CPA license.
